Phoenix pix

  1. I went to Phoenix a while back for a conference, and took a few days extra to have an adventure...

Highlight? Finding out there was an ASL congregation and spending time with Geraldo.

Geraldo is Deaf, from Honduras. The only written language he knows is Spanish, but he signs ASL like me. I didn't clue in until I noticed that every time I tried to hand spell something, he couldn't understand me, although he understood my ASL signing completely.

Basically, he's Spanish and I'm English. There's no way we could understand each other if he was in the hearing world, but because he's Deaf, we got along perfectly thanks to ASL. :-)

  2. Great desert pics, Bob. When you saw the guy coming down in a leg brace you should have turned around. Just kidding. I can tell you really enjoyed your time in the Sonoran Desert. I have family that lives in the Phoenix area, so I'm out that way quite often. Thanks for commenting on my blog. Best, Rob (aka packrat).
